Redeyed Sentinel is a free CAPTCHA and IP-reputation plugin for MyBB 1.8 that protects your registration form from bots and abuse. It uses Redeyed's self-hosted Sentinel service rather than any third-party tracker.
Features
- Native CAPTCHA on the registration form — no Google reCAPTCHA required.
- IP reputation scoring (VPN, Tor, proxy, datacenter, abuse classification) built in.
- Fails open: with empty keys, the plugin never blocks legitimate users.
- AdminCP settings panel for Site Key, API Key, and (optional) base URL for self-hosted deployments.
- The Site Key is the only thing printed to your HTML; the secret API Key stays server-side in an X-Api-Key request header.
Installation
1. Upload inc/plugins/redeyed_sentinel.php to your forum's inc/plugins/ directory.
2. AdminCP → Configuration → Plugins → Install & Activate "Redeyed Sentinel".
3. AdminCP → Configuration → Settings → Redeyed Sentinel — paste your Site Key and API Key.
How to get keys
Sign up at https://redeyed.com — keys are free and available in your Laboratory panel under Developer → Sentinel (Site Key) and Developer → API Keys (API Key).
Compatibility
MyBB 1.8.x. PHP 7.4+. No third-party PHP dependencies.
