The Attachment Preview plugin is a lightweight enhancement that makes viewing image and GIF attachments faster, easier, and more convenient. Instead of opening attachments in a new browser tab or downloading them first, users can instantly preview them in an elegant lightbox overlay without leaving the current page. The feature blends seamlessly into the existing interface, providing a smooth and modern browsing experience while keeping users focused on the discussion.

The plugin automatically adds a Preview button next to supported image attachments and can also enhance existing thumbnails so that clicking them opens the lightbox instead of a direct file link. Administrators can enable or disable the feature, choose whether thumbnail enhancement is applied, and adjust the maximum lightbox width as a percentage of the browser window. The lightbox supports responsive image scaling, loading indicators, keyboard shortcuts such as Escape to close, and convenient navigation between multiple attachments, creating a clean and intuitive media viewing experience across both desktop and mobile devices.
