Tab Sub Menu is a MyBB 1.8 plugin that lets forum administrators organize top-level forum categories into a clean, configurable tabbed menu on the forum index.

Instead of showing every category in one long list, administrators can create named tabs such as Home, Gaming, Programming, Marketplace, or any structure that fits their community. Each tab can target one or more forum/category IDs, and an empty ID list can be used to create a show-all tab.

The plugin is designed to work without requiring template edits for normal installations. It adds the needed stylesheet and template variables during activation, keeps plugin-owned theme assets synchronized, and supports newly created, imported, or duplicated themes while the plugin remains active.

Admin CP Configuration

Configuration is handled through the MyBB Admin CP. Administrators can define tab IDs, display names, assigned forum/category IDs, enabled states, the default tab, empty-tab behavior, browser persistence, shareable URLs, and custom CSS.

Theme Compatibility

Tab Sub Menu supports stock MyBB 1.8 themes and has also been tested with the responsive Space Cadet theme. Heavily customized themes can still integrate by adding a category data attribute to their outer category containers if their markup differs from standard MyBB output.

Installation

Upload the contents of the [icode]Upload/[/icode] directory to your MyBB forum root, then install and activate Tab Sub Menu from:

Admin CP -> Configuration -> Plugins

After activation, configure the plugin from the Tab Sub Menu settings group.
